About Me
Jamal Adams, MS, LPCC
Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with seven years of experience collaborating with diverse communities including preteens, adolescents, adults and older adults, and underrepresented groups. I am licensed in the states of CA and WI.
Most of my work consists of processing trauma and assessing the relationships we have with others to build more hope for the future. I personally believe that though things may be hard right now, no one is 'crazy', and that in some way, the way we are makes sense due to our past experiences. That means we can understand and create experiences now and in the future that are more adaptive and true to how we want to live.
My biggest strength as a therapist is allowing the therapeutic process and relationship to form its own authenticity. This allows for people to show up as themselves, without thinking they have to be or look a certain way to talk and receive help. I believe in truly meeting someone where they are at in any given moment, so there also isn't pressure to talk about certain things, if one does not feel comfortable or ready to talk about them yet. In addition, resistance, reluctance, and avoidance may be explored compassionately to facilitate progress in the therapeutic journey.
I am trained as an Interpersonal Process therapist and I utilize CBT, DBT, IFS, and Narrative interventions based on client needs. I offer everyday tools in my practice, yet my niche is related to discovering life long lasting change.
